Weidenfeller Refrigeration is a family tradition. As a leading, family-owned and operated commercial refrigeration company, it’s important for our customers to know our story.

Rick Weidenfeller, owner of Weidenfeller Refrigeration, used to ride along with his father on service calls and accompany him to the shop on Saturdays. Rick has learned everything he knows from his father.

At just 12 years-old, Rick helped in the shop, handed a torch and given the opportunity to solder and sweat copper fittings. Rick is a fourth generation refrigeration technician who has also completed a search and discovery of equipment and installations as his grandfather did in the 1940s and ‘50s. Rick’s grandfather was a pioneer in ammonia refrigeration and taught his son everything he knew about the trade. 

Carrying on the family trade with the same commitment, expertise, and convictions is paramount to Weidenfeller’s successes. Prior to taking over the family business, Rick worked for a company that handled the installation of commercial and industrial blow pipe for local factories, manufacturing plants, and machine shops. He’s also worked in the concrete construction industry.

To say that Rick knows his stuff when it comes to the trades would be an understatement! As his father’s business continued to expand, the need for informed, committed, and proficient technicians increased.

Weidenfeller Refrigeration continues to grow rapidly. When Rick isn’t on a service call or doing an installation, he’s at the shop refurbishing equipment. He completes continuing education on commercial refrigeration to remain sharp and knowledgeable about the business.

Just like Rick following in his father’s footsteps, Rick’s son, Jacob Weidenfeller, is now following in his. Jake started assisting his father at the shop at age 13, learning the passed down knowledge of the trade. He started with simple tasks such as cleaning the shop and washing equipment, eventually progressing to diagnosing and repairing units around age 15. Jake now works as Rick’s right-hand-man, fully involved in the business.

Not only does Rick have his own son working alongside him, but also his son-in-law, Zach Beggs, and his daughter-in-law (Jacob’s wife), Molly Weidenfeller. Zach spends most his time refurbishing the equipment at the shop, but he also runs service calls; oftentimes assisting Rick and/or Jake. Molly is the newest member of the Weidenfeller Refrigeration crew. She works as their secretary, handling all the paperwork which frees Rick to be out in the field.
